What Is a composIte?
Composites are mixtures of different class of materials exhibiting superior properties compared to the constituent materials alone. Structural composites usually refer to the use of fibers/reinforcements that are embedded in a polymeric matrix. Composite materials can be seen everywhere in various applications including automobile panels, tyres, industrial packaging, electronic devices, as well as bone fixation and replacement devices. Our research group works on understanding and modifying the interactions between fibers/reinforcements and polymer matrices to be able to design composites with superior properties.
